Arsenal are believed to be interested in Barcelona B winger Jose Arnaiz. The youngster who only joined the Catalan side last summer continues to attract interest with his very accomplished displays in Spain.
With star forward Alexis Sanchez set to depart the Emirates in one of the next two windows coupled with the difficulty in trying to finalize a deal for Thomas Lemar last summer, Wenger is understood to be monitoring a few top talents around Europe.
Recent reports emanating from Spain have now revealed that Wenger is prepared to swoop for the vastly talented wideman next year having been very impressed by various scout reports.
It is the Mundo Deportivo via Daily Cannon who reports that Arsenal will “compete with” Manchester United for the winger.
The report further states that the 22-year-old winger who joined Barcelona for only £3m has a £17.8m release clause that will increase should Arnaiz sign a new deal with the club.
Whilst there is no denying the talent the youngster possesses , the winger is definitely no suitable replacement for the World Class Sanchez and should he arrive, he could very well be a replacement for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who is yet to be replaced following last summer’s switch to Liverpool.
Arnaiz as of now is all potential and little ability which makes him a poor choice to come in and immediately replace the departing Sanchez.
To adequately replace the Chilean, Wenger will need to set the bar a lot higher than a player with just one appearance for the senior Barcelona side.
The former Valladolid star has played 10 times for Barcelona B in the Spanish second division, scoring four goals and assisting a further three.
He also recently made his first team debut for Barcelona, as he started, and scored in, their 3-0 victory over Real Murcia in the Copa del Rey.
