Arsenal are understood to be in a three way battle to sign Real Betis midfielder Fabian Ruiz.
The youngster who has broken into the senior squad at Betis continues to impress with matured performances beyond his age which has not unnoticed by the top European clubs.
With the likely departures of Mesut Ozil, Santi Carzola and Jack Wilshere at the end of the current campaign, Wenger who is understood to be keen on reinvigorating his midfield next year has targeted the youngster as part of his plans.
According to Spanish outlet Don Balon via Daily Cannon, Arsenal want to sign Real Betis’ Ruiz but face competition from Real Madrid and United. The report also credits Manchester City with an interest in the player.
Ruiz who has been in sparkling form in his four La Liga appearances for the Spanish club this season, scoring once and assisting twice is understood to have a buy-out clause of just £13.4m.
The 21-year-old has come through the ranks at the Spanish club after joining their youth set-up in 2004 at the age of just eight. Ruiz who is now very highly rated in Spain has the required tools to develop into one a top class midfielder and has unsurprisingly been backed to go on to achieve big things in his career.
Whilst Gooners would expectedly be pessimistic about our chances of coming out tops in a battle with several European giants to sign up the player, it’s always an entirely different ball game for Wenger when players are young and extremely gifted. The gaffer still maintains an excellent track record of developing young players.
