Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright has suggested that Alexandre Lacazette needs to be starting every game.
Lacazette has had a decent start to life in the Premier League but somehow he appears not to have Wenger’s full backing just yet, even though the boss claims otherwise.
Despite costing a mammoth £52m, Wenger has refused to start Laxazette against the big teams this season.
He was left on the bench in the 4-0 loss to Liverpool earlier in the season and the 3-1 loss to Manchester City last month.
Wright is among those that thinks Lacazettte needs to be playing more and has urged Wenger to give the Frenchman the freedom he needs.
“Lacazette I feel is a fantastic signing if you’re going to play him then play him continuously,” Wright said, as reported by the Metro .
“If I had him in my squad he would start literally every game. he takes half chances, he finishes well with both feet and I think now he is ready to be let loose.
“The more he plays, the more consistently he plays for the duration of games the more goals he is going to score.
“He’s that predator in the box Arsenal have been missing for many years.”
I was one of those who questioned Wenger’s decision to bench Lacazette against City and I think it turned out to be a big mistake as it was the striker who eventually got our only goal in that game.
I am not saying we would have won the game had he started but he would have given us more threat upfront than Sanchez did.
Lacazette has scored six Premier League goals for Arsenal this season.
