After enduring some not-too-impressive performances from German defender Shkodran Mustafi in recent years, Arsenal board members are set to cash-in on the player.

The Mirror suggest that the Gunners hierarchy, in agreement with Unai Emery, are ready to offload the £35m-rated defender this summer.

However, the board face huge challenge in their desire to see Mustafi leave Emirates Stadium as the reports said the player wants to remain under Emery’s tutelage beyond this summer.

The British media revealed that the World Cup winner is ready to fight for his place in the coming season and he isn’t planning to end his three-year partnership with the Gunners.

Admittedly, the 27-year-old defender was far from impressive in all the League matches he played for the team throughout last term, selling him isn’t the best solution especially with Koscielny’s uncertain future.

Mustafi, who completed £35m move to Arsenal from La Liga outfit Valancia in 2016, deserves another chance to right his wrong.

He is one of the most experienced defenders in Emery’s team, hence, selling him simply means leaving the back line without a leader in the upcoming season.

The German centre-back is with the squad in US for their pre-season tournament where they will tackle Real Madrid, Fiorentina and Juventus later in the month.

Since joining the Gunners three years ago, Mustafi has played 84 League matches and he scored seven goals, including the three he scored during 2018-19 campaign.
