Reports from Spain suggest Barcelona are in the market for an experienced centre-back and have identified Chelsea’s David Luiz and Arsenal’s Laurent Koscielny as potential recruits.
David Luiz has been a regular starter for Chelsea this season, while his French counterpart is targeting a return to Arsenal’s first team this month having been sidelined with a bad Achilles injury since 3 May.
Samuel Umtiti and Thomas Vermaelen are currently injured, and according to the report by UK Sun, Barcelona wants replacements for these two stars when the transfer window opens.
It is believed the club would ideally offer a six-month contract at the Nou Camp with the option of an additional year come to the end of the season.
But it will be difficult for Barcelona to lure Brazilian defender David Luiz to the Nou Camp as he has found his way to Chelsea’s first team this season under Maurizio Sarri.
Luiz currently earns around £120,000 a week deal at Chelsea.
Laurent Koscielny, on the other hand, has not played for the Gunners since May 3 due to an Achilles tendon rupture.
