The Telegraph reports that Arsenal boss Unai Emery has been present at a number of recent matches to watch Getafe centre-back Djene Dakonam.
David Ornstein adds (via Metro) that centre-back is a priority for the Gunners this summer, and Djene has a reported value of £13.5m.
The centre-back only has a contract until 2021, but Arsenal still have to go through some negotiations to secure the 27-year-old’s signature. Djene has been very impressive in La Liga though, despite playing for one of the so-called smaller sides in the division.
The Gunners finished fifth in the Premier League this season and can end the campaign on a high as they face Chelsea in the Europa League final on 29 June.
If they beat the Blues in Baku then they will have a substantially bigger budget to spend on transfers as a Europa League win comes with a spot in next season’s Champions League.
However, with Champions League football or not, Arsenal boss Unai Emery will be looking to sign players in at least two, and preferably six different positions.
