Arsenal are eyeing a swoop for Napoli’s centre back Kalidou Koulibaly as they look to add a top class central defender to their ranks this summer, according to The Mirror.
The Gunners had a very terrible season, and conceded 51 goals, the most they have conceded in one season since 1983-84 season, and have also lost their most experienced defender Laurent Koscielny to a long term injury.
Per Mertesacker’s retirement has made the Koscielny void feel even bigger leading the Gunners to look at external options to shore up their defense.
West Brom’s Jonny Evans is still believed to be on the Gunners radar after previous failed attempts and they are likely to find a move for him much easier this time with West Brom relegated to the Championship this season.
But Arsenal are reported to be looking for a top class addition to their defense and see Koulibaly as the perfect option and will look to make a £53 (€65m) million move for him this summer.
Koulibaly who stands at 6’4” has impressed since moving to Napoli in 2014, earning himself the nickname “The Wall” from fans.
