Arsenal are keen to make Norwich’s James Maddison who has impressed in the Championship this season their first summer signing, according to Birmingham Live.

The 21-year-old playmaker has contributed to 26 goals for the Canaries this season with 15 goals and 11 assists to his name. He has carved a niche for himself as a potent set piece taker, becoming Norwich’s set piece taker at a very young age.

Though still very young, Maddison already has a lot of experience at the lower levels, having turned out for Aberdeen in Scotland and Coventry City in the lower leagues in English football, and admitted that the experiences in Scotland enabled him to add some grit to his technique and flair.

The player was named in the English Football league team of the season after a campaign in which he has been described as outstanding by his manager Daniel Farke, and he has caught the attention of the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool.

Arsenal already have a plethora of midfielders at their disposal with Jack Wilshere set to extend his contract, Santi Cazorla returning to fitness, Aaron Ramsey having an excellent season alongside Granit Xhaka who seems to be growing into a strong presence on the pitch.

Maddison will most likely be loaned out or be a squad player along with Ainsley-Maitland Niles as he develops into a World class player.
