Manchester United’s fans have officially ended their dreams about the Premier League silverware on Wednesday when the Red Devils pull off another dismal display in matches against the top six teams falling 2-0 away at Tottenham Hotspur.
Their city rivals are now 15 points above at the top of the standings and Jose Mourinho has to shift the team’s goals into making the top four come May (the fifth-placed Spurs are now only five points below United in the league ladder).
The Portuguese manager will be desperate to see his men rebound from the loss this weekend when Man Utd host the recently-promoted Huddersfield Town at Old Trafford.
This should not be too big of a challenge for the hosts given the Terriers’ poor spell of form in the last couple of weeks.
David Wagner’s men have been very easy to break down lately leaking in 12 goals during the four-loss streak in the Premier League. This includes another poor performance on Tuesday evening when Liverpool eased past Wagner’s side 0-3 at The John Smith’s Stadium.
This will thus be a terrific opportunity for Romelu Lukaku to boost up his shaken confidence and score more than one goal.
The Belgian striker has 11 to his name so far in the season, but it’s still a bitterly disappointing return if we compare the fans’ expectations when he arrived last summer from Everton.
United should really not have too many problems here since they’ve usually managed to defeat the bottom-half sides so far in the season.
