Dejan Lovren (match fitness) and James Milner (muscle) will be assessed ahead of Liverpool’s match against Burnley on Sunday, though Joe Gomez (leg) is expected to remain out until after the international break.
Jurgen Klopp said on Friday that Lovren had returned to training the previous day and is “not injured anymore”, but the defender’s fitness levels would have to be checked before Sean Dyche’s side visit Anfield.
Milner, meanwhile, had what Klopp described as “little muscle issue” but had at least completed recovery work on Thursday and is hopeful of involvement at the weekend.
While Klopp is unlikely to jeopardise his side’s title tilt with mass rotation, there may be one or two changes given that the Reds face Bayern Munich on Wednesday night.
Jordan Henderson, Fabinho or – if fit – Milner could potentially step in for Trent Alexander-Arnold should Klopp wish to manage the right-back’s minutes as he did in Gameweek 27, though Alberto Moreno is a longer shot to feature at the expense of Andrew Robertson.
Central midfield looks to be a more likely area where the Liverpool head coach could make changes, with a rested Naby Keita potentially primed for a recall.
Playing both of Henderson and Fabinho in the engine room would perhaps be overkill at home to the Clarets, so one of those two defensive-minded options could make way.
Adam Lallana is another option in the middle or further forward, where Xherdan Shaqiri, Divock Origi and Daniel Sturridge are also back-up alternatives.
Roberto Firmino looks set for a start after only featuring as a substitute in the Merseyside derby following his recovery from an ankle injury.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (knee) will step up his recovery with an appearance for the under-23s on Friday but is still some way from involvement with the senior team.
