Liverpool vs Leicester City
English Premier League
Date: Saturday, 30 December 2017
Kick-Off: 15:00 UK
Venue: Anfield (Liverpool).
Liverpool continued their spell of excellent form in the final third on Tuesday by clinching a demolishing 5-0 victory over Swansea City at Anfield. They should have plenty of room to keep such form going in their last fixture of the year this Saturday against Leicester City who have been anything but meticulous at the back lately.
The Foxes got off to a promising start under Claude Puel, but their form has seen a major stumbling block ever since the shocking 0-3 defeat to Crystal Palace earlier in the month at King Power Stadium. They did produce fine in the final third last weekend when they managed a last-gasp draw vs Manchester United also at King Power, but mid-week’s fixture saw them fall to the out-of-form Watford side.
Puel’s men started off well that match at Vicarage Road Stadium as in-form midfielder Riyad Mahrez broke the deadlock halfway through the first half, but they once again failed to keep things tight at the back to leak in two goals and eventually lose 2-1 at the end.
Jurgen Klopp has had massive issues with his team’s defensive line throughout the entire season basically, but he’ll be happy with the fact his men kept a clean sheet in Tuesday’s drubbing of Swansea City (5-0). Philippe Coutinho came up with a strong display in the final third, while both Roberto Firmino (two goals) and Mohamed Salah (two assists) contributed to the commanding victory in front of the home crowd.
Liverpool vs Leicester City: Predictions
This affair has all the ingredients of being a high-scoring one. Both teams have been pretty impressive up front lately (particularly Liverpool) and if we know that managers can’t quite be proud of their sides’ defensive showings, backing four or more goals is a must here.
