Jordan Henderson (hamstring) is available for selection, with Jurgen Klopp reporting a fully fit squad aside from Adam Lallana – who has an unspecified “minor” injury – and long-term absentee Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Klopp rolled out a 4-2-3-1 in the 2-0 victory over Fulham a fortnight ago and said in Friday’s press conference that using that formation away from home “will happen in the future”, though he may bring Henderson back into midfield in a 4-3-3 this weekend to combat Watford’s undoubted strength in central areas.

Naby Keita only returned to training on Thursday after a long-haul flight back from Africa, so may just be among the substitutes.

Fabinho is another option in the engine room, meanwhile.

Klopp said that Andrew Robertson trained for the first time on Friday after “two very intensive games for Scotland”, so it won’t be a huge shock to see Alberto Moreno line up at left-back, particularly with the Reds then in action against PSG on Wednesday.

Dejan Lovren could be handed some minutes at centre-half, too, with Joe Gomez potentially moving over to right-back or dropping to the bench.

Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino will face competition for their places from Xherdan Shaqiri if Klopp reverts to a 4-3-3, though Klopp may prefer the directness of Mane and Salah down the flanks with Watford’s full-backs perhaps more comfortable going forward than defensively.
