Arsenal are interested in signing Sevilla striker Wissam Ben Yedder as a replacement for Danny Welbeck, according to Calciomercato.
The England international sustained a serious ankle break during the Gunners clash with Sporting Lisbon in the Europa league earlier this month.
He has since undergone surgery on the ankle and it is not yet known when he will return to action, though it is believed he will be out for most of the remainder of the season.
Arsenal boss Unai Emery is thought to be looking for a new attacker to replace Welbeck while he remains sidelined, and his attention has turned to his former club Sevilla’s striker Ben Yedder.
The 28-year-old has been prolific in Seville, having netted 40 goals in the last two seasons, and already has 10 goals in just 17 games this season.
He was on the French national team’s standby list for the 2018 World Cup in Russia during the summer, and is now on the Gunners radar.
There is no guarantee as to whether the Gunners will be able to sign him in January as his agent recently revealed that the striker is happy in Spain.
It will come as a surprise should the Gunners move for him as Emery earlier hinted at giving youngster Eddie Nketiah a chance to be a long-term replacement for Welbeck.
There is also Reiss Nelson who some fans are asking to be recalled in January owing to his good form for Hoffenheim on loan this season.
