Arsenal FC have reportedly agreed on a deal with Saint-Etienne for the center back defender, William Saliba..

The Gunners were able to beat rival North London club, Tottenham Hotspur to the race.

The report, however, hinted that the 18-year-old defender favours a move to Arsenal over Tottenham.

It was disclosed that the Gunners, who had initially agreed to pay the sum of £27 million for the center back had to increase the pay to £30 million to convince the French side.

This is because William Saliba is considered one of the best young defenders in the French League especially with his top performance after he made it to the Saint-Etienne first team last season.

According to a French publication, it reports that Arsenal will now pay £30 million plus a further £6.3 million as add-ons for the teenager, this means the English side would end up paying a total of £36 million.

The publication further added that William Saliba will sign a five-year deal with Arsenal, however, he would remain at Saint-Etienne next season on loan and wouldn’t move to North London until next summer.

It is believed that the Gunners want to sign Saliba as a replacement for Laurent Koscielny.
