Chelsea summer signing Alvaro Morata has urged fans to be patient with him, despite making a wonderful start to life in the Premier League.
The 24 year old has scored two goals and provided two assists in his first three Premier League games and is drawing plaudits from the football world.
However, the striker missed a penalty in the club’s Community Shield game against Arsenal earlier this month, which piled up pressure on him. He has now managed to weather the storm with his early season form.
Following his strike against Everton on Sunday, Morata called for patience and asked for more time as he continues to adapt to life in the Premier League.
Speaking to Chelsea’s official site, the striker said: “I’m happy because I scored, I took an assist and the team won. It was an important win. At Stamford Bridge we need to win all the games or try to take the three points.
“It’s important for me to play and to make adaptations to my game. It’s not easy: a new country, another language, another style of football. I need time for all the things in the Premier League but I’m okay, my teammates give me a hand to make it easy and I’m very happy to be here.”
Morata completed a £58m move to Chelsea from Real Madrid in July, after the club missed out on Romelu Lukaku.
The Spaniard scored 15 goals in 26 appearances for Madrid last season, with majority of those appearances from the bench.
