Chelsea are reportedly plotting a second raid for Napoli star Elseid Hysaj, reports in Italy claims
Having signed Jorginho in the summer, as well as hiring Maurizio Sarri as boss, the Blues are prepared to try their luck for the third time.
The report claims that Chelsea would be willing to pay as much as €50 million for the Albanian defender in January and allow Napoli to keep him on loan until the end of the season.
The Serie A outfit have refused to sell in the past, but with concerns over his long-term future at the club, Carlo Ancelotti’s side could be tempted by the offer to cash in.
It is understood Hysaj would replace out-of-favour defender Davide Zappacosta, with the Italian set to leave the club next summer.
Hysaj is a key member of Ancelotti’s squad, having only missed one Serie A game all season, and the Italian is unlikely to let him leave at a cut price.
But according to the report, the 26-year-old enjoyed working with Sarri in his three years at the Napoli helm.
The right-back is also in the middle of discussing a new contract at the Stadio San Paolo, but talks have been put aside following interest from Chelsea.
Sporting witness claims Hysaj agent revealed talks are already ongoing with no fear that his quotes about a Chelsea move would harm the player’s chances of making it to Stamford Bridge.
Now speaking to Radio CRC (via Corriere Dello Sport), Mario Giuffredi has tried to say that things are cool between his client and Carlo Ancelotti, but he couldn’t avoid feeding the transfer rumour once again.
First asked if there are negotiations for Hysaj to join Chelsea in the January transfer window, Mario Giuffredi said: “What they wrote is not to be excluded, because Hysaj was wanted by Chelsea even in summer.”
