Manchester United are close to agreeing a new five-year deal worth around £190,000 a week with Anthony Martial following his scintillating start to the season.
The Frenchman is out of contract at the end of the season, though United have the option of extending his deal with a 12-month extension clause.
Martial career at Old Trafford looked to be over at the start of the season after a number of bust-ups with boss Jose Mourinho.
He has since come back into form, scoring five goals in his last four Premier League matches, and helping United climb the table.
The 22-year-old has started in each of United’s last six matches and was instrumental in the Red Devils’ stunning comeback against Juventus in Turin on Wednesday.
It is understood he recently turned down £160,000-a-week but has no intentions of quitting the Red Devils and wants to stay after becoming settled in Manchester.
United also have an option to extend his contract by a further 12 months to prevent him walking away on a free next summer.
The Red Devils have been in talks with Martial’s representatives for months and a new deal would represent a significant u-turn given the Frenchman wanted to leave the club last summer.
