Inter Milan have agreed to meet Romelu Lukaku’s £175,000-a-week wage demands as they look to conclude a deal for the Manchester United striker Daily Mirror.
Incoming Inter boss Antonio Conte has identified the Belgian as a priority transfer target once he takes charge at the San Siro.
Manchester United have long been linked with a move for Ivan Perisic but the Independent claim they would rather a different Inter star should the Milan giants come calling.
It’s reported that United would prefer Milan Skriniar to be exchanged with the centre-back another long-term target.
Skriniar penned a new deal at Inter Milan earlier this month making any potential move difficult.
But United are believed to want a high fee for Lukaku and may see the 24-year-old as a positive signing financially.
However, the Serie A giants had hoped to sign Lukaku for around £50m but United value him at closer to £70m.
United paid Everton £75m for Lukaku in 2017 and do not feel that his value has significantly dropped since then.
It’s clear that Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs to strengthen his defence this summer.
