Arsenal FC are in talks over a possible transfer for Nigerian winger Alex Iwobi, with less than a few hours to the end of the summer transfer window.
It is reported that Everton have taken interest in Iwobi after they were unable to convince Crystal Palace to let go of Wilfred Zaha.
Everton were said to have submitted a transfer bid worth £30 million but Arsenal rejected the bid as they hope the Toffees will return with a better offer before the transfer deadline.
It is reported that Arsenal want a deal worth £40 million for the Nigeria international who made 50 appearances last season with six goals to his name.
Should Iwobi remain at club he will have to battle it out with Nicolas Pepe for game time so makes sense that Arsenal cash in on the player or they risk having an unhappy player within their ranks.
Iwobi was earlier quoted as saying that he would have to leave if Arsenal signed Wilfried Zaha and it is safe to say that, with the arrival of Pepe, he could yet leave this summer.
It promises to be a busy day for Arsenal who are expected to sign one or two players today.
