Manchester United have re-entered the race to sign Antoine Griezmann.
The France star is set to leave Atletico Madrid with Barcelona the big favourites to land him but United are now in the race and could trigger his release clause.
The Independent believe that Old Trafford is Griezmann’s most likely next destination.
Any deal would make him United’s record signing – eclipsing the £90m spent on Paul Pogba in 2016.
Barcelona manager revealed on Sunday that the Catalans had already initiated contact with Greizmann over a move to the Camp Nou but clarified that talks were at an early stage.
Griezmann had been expected to join the La Liga winners but the Independent claim Barcelona are having second thoughts over paying the Frenchman’s £108m release clause.
Griezmann had been a target for Jose Mourinho in 2017 and the World Cup winner rated his chances of joining the club as ‘60%’ in June that summer.
However, Atletico were slapped with a transfer ban and Griezmann decided to stay in the Spanish capital as they could not sign a replacement.
