Arsenal have offered the Serie A giants Juventus midfielder Sami Khedira a contract, an Italian daily sports newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Nicolo Schira claims.
It’s thought Juventus are prepared to let the Germany international go for nothing as he doesn’t feature in head coach Maurizio Sarri’s plans for next season.
The links for a transfer away comes after the signings of Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot on free transfers, which could see Sami’s chances become even more limited.
With latest reports surrounding the future of Egypt international Mohamed Elneny and Aaron Ramsey’s free transfer to Bianconeri, a move for the German star seems to be an option for the Gunners if reports are true.
Sami would be the second Juventus star to sign for Arsenal on a free transfer following Stephan Lichtsteiner, who joined in the previous summer’s transfer window.
Still, there should be big red flags over the World Cup winners’ latest injury history and this should deter Gunners from signing him.
In the last three campaigns, he has suffered as many as 10 different injuries that have limited his game time and last season saw Germany international play just 17 games in all competitions.
Arsenal are apparently gearing up for a new start after refreshing their recruitment team.
Along with that has come to a new idea of implementing young players, whether that’s done via the transfer market, with acquisitions like Dani Ceballos, or by dipping into their Hale End academy, with Joe Willock making an impression in pre-season.
