Chelsea are set to beat Arsenal to the signature of Hamburg youngster Janne-Fierte Arp, according to the Mirror.
Arp is regarded as one of Germany’s brightest striking prospects and is already a part of Hamburg’s senior team.
Despite just being 17, Arp is already attracting interest from a host of top clubs and he even turned down the chance to move to Stamford Bridge last summer.
Chelsea remain very interested in the forward and despite increased interests from rival clubs in the youngster, the Blues believe they are still in pole position for his signature.
Arsenal are one of the clubs believed to be keen on the German but reports suggest we have been unable to rival Chelsea for his signature.
There’s been strong reports of the players move to Stamford Bridge already a done deal in recent weeks.
However, we could have a slim chance of signing Arp, after his agent denied reports that he is closing in on a move to Chelsea.
When asked about Arp’s reported move to Chelsea, his agent said: “There is nothing to report.”
Hamburg apparently want the youngster to sign a new deal with them and will continue to convince him to sign a new deal.
Chelsea have gone about signing young players all over Europe but struggle to promote them into their first team but Arsenal have a better track record promoting youngsters into its first team and that could change his mind if he decides to take more time to consider his options.
