Arsenal fan spots Dani Ceballos transfer hint as Bukayo Saka’s new shirt number is ‘confirmed’

Arsenal appear to have confirmed a new shirt number for Bukayo Saka.

The wonderkid, who at the beginning of the month signed a new contract at the Emirates Stadium, has worn the no.87 and no.77 shirt numbers since breaking into the first-team picture.

Sticking with the number seven theme, that seems to be what will be on the back of Saka’s shirt for next season.

Some eagle-eyed Gunners supporters have spotted the number upgrade via Arsenal – the club’s official online store where next season’s home kit has been unveiled.

There it can be seen that Saka has been allocated the no.7 shirt.

This means the winger will follow in the footsteps of Alexis Sanchez, Tomas Rosicky, Robert Pires, David Platt, Michael Thomas as the late David Rocastle in wearing the iconic shirt number.

Furthermore, the decision would suggest there’s no way back for Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

He took over the number from Alexis Sanchez two years ago, but hasn’t been at his best with the Gunners and is spending the season with Roma in Italy.

Set to remain at the Stadio Olimpico for at least another season, the no.7 seems to have been taken for the 2020/21 campaign.

With that said, one Arsenal fan has a theory that a transfer decision might have been made regarding Dani Ceballos.

This apparent transfer hint comes just days after Ceballos admitted he would like to extend his stay at the Emirates Stadium after spending the season on-loan from Real Madrid.

“Right now, I’m only thinking about the next games because if we win them, we have some chance of qualifying for the Europa League,” he told Sky Sports. “After that, I have to be calm. I have to return to Real Madrid and they have to make a decision because I have a contract there for the next three years.

“Once I know their decision, I will sit down with my family and the people close to me and see what’s best for me next year.”
