Arsenal fans were sent into meltdown as transfer target Papa Gueye sent a message to Matteo Guendouzi.

The Express reported that the north London side are close to an agreement for Gueye.

Gueye has enjoyed a breakthrough season with the French second division side, making 22 appearances for them.

The 21-year-old also has 10 international caps across the U18 and U19 sides.

This has seen him play with Guendouzi, who joined the Gunners from Lorient last season, on the international stage.

And the young Frenchman had a message for the long-haired midfielder on Instagram.

Arsenal’s young star shared a photo from the Dubai warm weather training camp, moving onto a ball in full flow.

It has been liked more than 70,000 times since it was published on Wednesday.

Accompanying the snap, Guendouzi simply wrote: “#Dubai”

But among the comments was Gueye, who replied: “Guendouzzz.”

And the Gunners faithful leap at the chance to send the prospective midfielder a message.

“Come and join him at Arsenal,” one supporter said.

Another commented: “Let’s make this happen.”

While a third made a big prediction.

“Soon you’ll be playing together at Arsenal,” they said.

And a fourth added: “Welcome to Arsenal.”

A fifth fan heaped praise their current French star, with: “We signed Guendouzi to be both player and agent.

“Impeccable business.”

With another simply writing: “Agent Guendo.”

According to Jeunes Footeuxthe Gunners are ahead of a string of top teams in the race for the Frenchman’s signature.

And they have reportedly agreed a £5m with Le Havre for the Senegalese starlet.

If the deal goes through, Gueye would be the first permanent signing under new manager Mikel Arteta after the arrivals of Pablo Mari and Cedric Soares on loan.

The Gunners are next in action on Sunday as they take on Newcastle, hoping a win can take them nearer to a European spot.
