Arsenal will lock horns with four other Premier League clubs over the signing of Benfica star Joao Felix this summer.
Manchester United and City were joined by Premier League rivals Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea in checking out Felix who has come through the ranks at Benfica.
The 19-year-old has been dubbed the most exciting talent in Portuguese football since Cristiano Ronaldo and enhanced his burgeoning reputation in midweek with a hat-trick against Eintracht Frankfurt in a Europa League quarter-final first leg.
But it is thought that they will allow the playmaker to leave if anyone offers them near their valuation when the transfer window opens in the summer.
Felix recently told Marca: “My dream is always to play for the big teams and in the big competitions, but as I’ve already said, I am here and I am very happy at Benfica, who are also a big European team.
He was recently handed his first Portugal cap by manager Fernando Santos, who praised his “enormous potential”.
“If I did not think Joao had quality, I think he would be here, it’s very easy, I only put Joao because I believe he has enormous potential,” Santos said.
