Arsenal have reportedly had a €30 million bid for Roma’s Cengiz Under turned down, with the Gunners hoping to beat Tottenham and Bayern to his signature.
The report does not specify when the bid was made, with it possible that this could have been made in the summer, or a move that is being prepared for the January window.
According to reports in Italy, Cengiz’s performances have attracted the interest of both North London clubs, as well as German sides Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.
However, the website believes talks are progressing for the Turkey starlet to put pen to paper on an improved contract worth €2m a season, which would include a release clause of €40-50m.
On the other hand, Roma sporting director Monchi ‘would like to avoid’ a similar case to that of Lorenzo Pellegrini, whose €30m exit clause can be split into two €15m payments before July 31 in each of the next three summers.
