According to French outlet Mercato365, scouts from Arsenal were in the attendance for the midweek Ligue 1 clash, and they were able to watch PSG’s Christopher Nkunku in action.
The Gunners were considering an approach for the versatile player in the January transfer window, but the deal didn’t take shape and it ended in disappointment for Unai Emery’s side. The player has been in the north London club’s ‘sights’.
PSG had no trouble with their match on Tuesday, breezing past Dijon 4-0. Nkunku played 76 minutes and did well enough playing on the right-hand side, completing 94% of his passes, creating one chance and completing one dribble.
The outlet affirms that the Gunners’ presence related to a desire to watch 21-year-old central midfielder Christopher Nkunku play, who they had offers knocked back in January for.
The Frenchman’s current deal with PSG expires in 2020 – Manchester United, Hoffenheim & Bayer Leverkusen all also had representatives present, with the Red Devils potentially interested in Belgian international right-back Thomas Meunier.
