Arsenal broke their transfer record when they officially signed £72m-rated Nicholas Pepe from Lille LOSC last week, nonetheless, Unai Emery is still targeting one or more players before the end of the transfer window.
The Gunners boss was shockingly linked with a loan move for Barcelona’s flop Philippe Coutinho as he continues to seek for more deadly goalscoring wingers and attackers.
At the same time, the former Paris St-German tactician is very much keen on luring Celtic fullback Kieran Tierney to the Emirates Stadium despite seeing two of his initial bids turned down by the Scottish Champions.
Tierney, 22, has been on the Gunners’ radar since the start of the transfer market in June but Emery hasn’t recorded a breakthrough with just four days to the end of the transaction period.
It is believed that the desperate Spanish manager has urged his employers to make third bid for the youngster’s services as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, Celtic manager Lennon told Sky Sports that he expects new offer from the Premier League outfit due to their desperation to have the young man at the Emirates Stadium.
According to Lennon, nothing has changed as regards to Tierney’s commitment to his team but the Gunners are trying everything possible to see the player ends up signing for them.
“Nothing has changed yet. “It’s not speaking from insider knowledge, but in my experience another bid will come in,” he told Sky Sports.
The left-back is back from his short-term injury lay-off but he’s not fully fit to engage in full training sessions on Wednesday.
Lennon confirmed, during the week, that the attack-minded fullback is back from his injury as he kicked the ball but he requires some days before partaking in full training session.
Lennon said: “Kieran started kicking a ball on Wednesday, but he’s still feeling some discomfort there,”
The Scotland international caught Emery’s attention during last season in which he featured in 40 matches with six assists in all competitions.
