Arsenal are set to receive a timely transfer boost within the next 48 hours.
Arsenal’s activity in the transfer window remains relatively muted, although several deals are simmering.
Manager Unai Emery has his hands tied to a certain extent given the lack of funds available.
But the Spaniard could be about to receive a tidy windfall courtesy of former player Ismael Bennacer.
The Algerian left Arsenal in 2017 for Italian side Empoli and is set to move on again with the Gunners entitled to 30 per cent of his sell-on fee.
Bennacer’s two years in Italy have caught the eye of AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund with a €15m (£13.5m) fee quoted.
And Fabrizio Corsi, Empoli president, believes a deal for the 21-year-old is imminent.
“Bennacer? Something is missing between the agents of the player and Milan but I don’t think it’s anything serious,” Corsi said.
“They are discussing the details and I hope we can solve everything in 24-48 hours.
“It is a great opportunity for Bennacer, he would be foolish not to take it.”
Any move for Bennacer at his current value would see Arsenal receive just under £5m, which would further their current £45m budget.
The Gunners are looking to add a full-back, a central defender and a winger despite their relatively minimal budget.
That is why any additional funds, no matter how small, will be a bonus to Emery who knows his squad is in need of serious recruitment.
Celtic’s Kieran Tierney is high on the club’s shortlist but they and the Scottish champions have yet to agree on a fee.
William Saliba is also nearing a move to the Emirates with the north Londoners and Saint Etienne discussing how any deal could be structured.
The French club want the teenager to return on loan for another year, but Arsenal are reluctant to agree to such terms.
