Yannick Carrasco has excited Arsenal supporters by confirming that talks are ongoing about a potential transfer to the club.
The 25-year-old was first linked with a loan move to Unai Emery’s team in January but in the end were unable to tempt his Chinese club Dalian Yifang into letting him go.
Instead they signed Barcelona’s Denis Suarez, but the player turned out to be a huge disappointment, and didn’t even make a single Premier League start before he returned to Catalonia at the beginning of May to seek treatment for a groin problem.
Now, however, a deal for Carrasco appears more likely, and it certainly appears one that the player himself is keen on making happen.
In an interview with Spanish newspaper Sport , Carrasco said: “Negotiations are going well.
“I am aware that I am an important player for the team but I hope they let me leave.
“From a personal and family point of view, I would like to return to Europe.”
Carrasco also claims he has what it takes to make an impression in the Premier League, and believes he is perfectly suited to the fast-paced nature of the division.
“The Premier League is more physical, but there are also a lot of spaces to run into,” he added.
Carrasco moved to China from Atletico Madrid in 2018, and he has since made 25 appearances in the Chinese Super League, scoring seven goals.
