Arsenal are believed to be interested in re-signing Besiktas midfielder Oguzhan Ozyakup.
The 25-year-old has developed into a top class midfielder since leaving the Arsenal academy five years ago and has played a prominent role in back-to-back league title wins.
Wenger who is understood to be keen on strengthening his midfield next year is understood to be keen on Ozyakup. Some reports are claiming that Ozyakup is actually being targeted by the gaffer as a potential replacement for Mesut Ozil whose contract expires at the end of the season.
Whilst the German international has not ruled out extending his stay at the Emirates beyond the current campaign, there is no news to report regarding any progress on an extension, he could very well be leaving for free next summer.
Since joining Besiktas from Arsenal in 2012, Ozyakup’s rise has not gone unnoticed by his former boss and the Daily Cannon are now reporting that Arsenal are prepared to pay £11 million for him in January.
Besiktas want more than what Arsenal are offering but could be tempted by the fact that we are prepared to waive the 30% sell on clause we are enttitles to if they accept the figure on offer.
The 25-year-old who has in the past made no secret of the fact he intends on returning to Arsenal in the future has featured a whopping 195 times in all competitions for Besiktas thus far, scoring 27 goals and assisting a further 44 in the process.
