Arsenal XI vs Huddersfield: Ozil, Lacazette and Aubameyang to Start in strong 3-4-1-2 formation

Jonathan Hogg (back) is back in contention for the visit of Arsenal, with Jan Siewert reporting on Thursday that the defensive midfielder has “trained well” in the lead-up to Saturday’s match.

Hogg could replace Juninho Bacuna in the engine room, then, taking his place alongside Aaron Mooy and Philip Billing in a central three – though Jason Puncheon is another option in those positions.

Gameweek 26 may come too soon for Abdelhamid Sabiri (knee) despite his return to training, while Danny Williams (knee) is still a little way off from his own comeback.

Chris Lowe is also a doubt due to illness but Erik Durm is at least available after missing the thrashing at Chelsea because of an ankle injury.

While the new Huddersfield boss has seemingly settled on a formation (his favoured 4-3-3), second-guessing the German’s line-up is a tricky business.

Siewert made five changes to his starting XI for the trip to Stamford Bridge and will be forced into another one this weekend, with Isaac Mbenza (calf) ruled out for up to six weeks:

Steve Mounie could return to the starting XI up front with Elias Kachunga moving wide-left, with Alex Pritchard and Karlan Grant alternative options to play just off the Beninese striker.

Laurent Depoitre failed to even make the match-day squad last weekend and looks to be some way down the pecking order, however.

Siewert has named different full-backs in each of his two games in charge and may be forced into making a change at left-back if Lowe is unavailable, with Terence Kongolo potentially moving over from centre-half.

Durm and Florent Hadergjonaj are alternative options in the full-back positions.
