Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is demanding the signing of Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon.
The 24-year-old has bagged 31 goals this season alongside 14 assists and would be an ideal candidate to play in the midfield three that Solskjaer has primarily used since taking charge of United in December.
Solskjaer is set to have a busy summer as United boss with many changes needed if the Red Devils are to become competitive again.
It’s claimed the Solskjaer sees the midfielder as an “ideal” signing and is not put off by the huge buyout clause of £85million.
The Portugal international has been involved in 46% of Sporting’s 71 goals in the league this season. He has been the league’s player of the month four times this term, winning the award for the past three months, and four times last season.
In just two seasons back in Portugal – following spells with Udinese and Sampdoria in Italy – he has 48 goals and 37 assists in 107 games.
He has been compared with Frank Lampard, surpassing the Chelsea great’s most prolific season in 2009-10 when he scored 27 goals, considered to be a record for a midfielder in Europe.
