Arsenal could sign Ajax Argentine left back Nicolas Tagliafico in January after they launched an £8 million bid for him, according to talkSPORT.
The Gunners have recently been linked with the 26-year-old in the face of a left back crisis which has seen Granit Xhaka fill in that position.
Trusty defender Nacho Monreal is currently injured along with second choice Sead Kolasinac and Ainsley Maitland-Niles who has been filling in as a third choice left back only recently returned to training after fracturing his fibula at the start of the season.
Tagliafico was a part of Argentina’s world cup squad who were knocked out in the quarter finals in Russia by eventual winners France, he featured both as a left back and as a wing back during the tournament.
He joined Ajax from Independiente in January and has been a star performer for the Dutch side since then. He has scored twice and assisted a further two goals since the start of the current season.
Newcastle tried to sign him during the final days of the summer transfer window but failed to pull through a move in time before the window shut down.
According to reports from Italy, Arsenal have now stolen in and are ready to trump the Magpies after making an £8 million offer for the defender.
