If reports on Triballfootbal are true, Arsenal and Liverpool have opened talks in signing Mario Gotze this summer.

The German star has had some difficult times with Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Germany, but has shown signs of rediscovering his best form, report claims he is eyeing a move to the Premier League in a bid to reignite his career after a series of injury setback.

After just 39 Bundesliga starts in the last three seasons, Gotze could be on his way out of Dortmund this summer, and former tutor Jurgen Klopp quickly declared his interest.

Last season Gotze scored just twice in 32 appearances in all competitions for Dortmund in the Bundesliga.

However, bookmakers Betstars have priced Liverpool up as favourites – ahead of Arsenal and Chelsea – to land the playmaker.

Liverpool are a short 5/2 to get the deal done this summer.

The Reds are in search of a new attacking star after failing to capture Nabil Fekir from Lyon earlier this month.

Gotze has two years left remaining on his contract but the 26-year-old could be made available if a suitable bid is made.

It is claimed Dortmund are keen on recouping most of the £22m they spent on Gotze last year.
