Bookies have favoured Liverpool in signing Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.
Jurgen Klopp is on the hunt for a new stopper after Loris Karius’ Champions League nightmare as Klopp targets a Premier League title charge next season.
Karius and Simon Mignolet are both not up to scratch, with the former making two costly mistakes in the Champions League final against Real Madrid last month.
Schmeichel has previously been on Liverpool’s radar and could re-emerge as a target after his heroics in Denmark’s 1-0 win against Peru at the World Cup.
The Reds have been linked with an array of star goalkeepers this summer with the likes of Roma’s Alisson and Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak have all been linked with a move to Anfield.
BetStars spokesman Ian Marmion told Starsport: “Liverpool have been priced at evens to be Kasper Schmeichel’s next club, after the Danish keeper put in a stand-out performance against Peru in Denmark’s opening World Cup game.
“Jurgen Klopp may look to source another goalkeeper as a priority with Loris Karius’ future at the club uncertain.
“The Reds are the clear favourites to sign the Leicester City player, with Premier League rivals Arsenal the second favourites at 3/1.
“Italian giants Juventus and Chelsea are next in line for Schmeichel at 4/1 and 5/1 respectively to lure the Dane to their clubs.
“Manchester United (8/1) and PSG (12/1) are the outsiders for Schmeichel and would only need the 27-year-old to provide cover for David de Gea and Kevin Trapp respectively.”
