Chelsea are keeping tabs on Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose, according to reports.
The defender granted a controversial interview in the summer, where he launched an attack on Spurs hierarchy over their strict wage budget. Manchester United and Chelsea were immediately linked with him but those reports died down after the manager held a clear-the-air talk between him.
According to Italian publication Tutto Mercato Web via the Daily Star, Manchester United are still interested in the defender and could launch a bid in the January transfer window.
The report claims Chelsea are also keen on Rose and wouldn’t be shy to rival Man Utd if Spurs are willing to sell.
Rose is currently out of action with a knee injury he sustained in January but is still highly rated by Premier League clubs who consider him England’s best fullback.
Chelsea spent the whole summer trying to sign Alex Sandro but weren’t successful as Juventus had no interest to sell.
The club currently doesn’t have a top replacement for Marcos Alonso at left wing back and will definitely be tempted by the opportunity to sign Rose.
It now remains to be seen if Spurs will consider allowing the England international leave in the new year. It is unlikely they would do so, especially to a rival club.
