Chelsea legend Graeme Le Saux says Antonio Conte needs to treat Hazard like a star man if he wants to keep him away from the likes of Real Madrid.

Hazard has long been on the radar of Real Madrid and he was also linked with Barcelona in the summer. The Belgium international has refused to rule out a move away from Chelsea, amid reports linking him with Spain’s biggest boys.

The Blues are set to make the winger the highest paid player in the Premier League by offering him around £300,000, which would fend off interest in his services for now.

But when asked about Chelsea’s chances of keeping Hazard away from the likes of Real Madrid in the future, Le Saux said: “I think you just have to resign yourself as a club that there’ll always be suitors out there.

“Especially when you have players playing at the highest level.

“You can never be so presumptuous that you think players will stay at a club for a long period of time as it’s only natural for them to feel like they want to try something new.

“Chelsea will need to make sure Hazard is in the spotlight and, as he’s still young, they have a real opportunity to do so.

“It interested me that he came out and said that Antonio Conte made him better in ‘just a week’.

“It was likely a slight dig at previous management but it does show they have a strong relationship and that counts for so much.”

Hazard signing a new deal at Chelsea will be a huge boost for the club and it’s fan base. The Belgian is a key player for the team and is central to our attacking flair. It has become so imperative we keep him.

Like Le Said rightly said, making Hazard the focal point of our team will go a long way to keep him. It would convince him to stay here, rather than moving to a club where he’d be under the shadow of Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo.
