English football is certainly on the rise as the big clubs continue to attract some of the biggest names in the sport. This has led to success in Europe’s elite competition, the champions league, as all four premier league sides progressing through the group stages. So what are the chances of them making it to the last eight or one of them going on and lifting the trophy for the first time since Chelsea back in 2012.
Liverpool v Bayern Munich
One of the blockbuster clashes of the round which sees last season’s runners up, and current Premier league leaders Liverpool face off against German champions Bayern Munich. This is very difficult to call with both sides in very good form at present
It is virtually evens the pair as to who will progress through, but considering how dominant Liverpool have been through the first half of the season, they must have a strong chance of progressing through. They have also been a popular selection from punters using the Ladbrokes bonus code. Can the 28 time German champions progress through and land their sixth title or could Liverpool go one better than last season and win their sixth title?

Manchester United v PSG
Next up it is the resurgent Manchester United who will face off against the dominating seven time French champions Paris Saint Germain. When the tie was made many thought this would be simple for PSG as Manchester United continued to struggle. However they have beaten Juventus in this seasons competition so cannot be written off. PSG are the general 2/7 favourites to progress through, with Manchester United 5/2.
The first leg is taking place at Old Trafford in which United will want and need to take a lead back to France if they are to progress through. PSG have one of the most dangerous attacking lines in world football, but a lot of money has been invested for success in this competition. Therefore the pressure is certainly on them now to progress through and challenge in the latter stages of the competition.
Manchester City v Schalke
The current Premier league champions will be expected to progress through this tie with ease as they remain the favourites to go on and lift the trophy. They continue to play some of the most attractive attacking football around under the world’s best Pep Guardiola, and are always a major threat to any side. City are the general 1/12 favourites to progress through to the last eight, and just 3/1 for the entire tournament. It will be a major shock were they to falter at this early stage.
Tottenham v Dortmund
Another very exciting match up as Tottenham face off against the current leading German side in Borussia Dortmund. This is another one that is very difficult to call and is again virtually evens the pair. With the return leg in Germany and the remarkable record Dortmund have at home, Tottenham will hope to take an advantage in. Dortmund are currently leading the way in Germany and could they yet end their dominating era of Bayern Munich. Tottenham are also having a fantastic season and are themselves challenging for their domestic title, but with the continued attacking threat they will be confident of progressing through to the last eight.
