Chelsea have confirmed that they have terminated Loic Remy’s contract, clearing the path for him to join Spanish side Las Palmas.
Remy joined Chelsea from Queens Park Rangers in 2014 but wasn’t able to make a lasting impact in the first team.
After failing to make an impact at Stamford Bridge, the striker spent the past season on loan at Crystal Palace, which wasn’t successful as well.
Chelsea have now decided to cut their losses by terminating the striker’s contract.
Injuries and loss of form played a key part in Remy’s travails at Chelsea and he would be happy to finally put an end to his stay at the club.
He has now signed a two year deal at Palmas as he hopes to get his career back on track.
At 30, there is not much left in Remy’s career but he will be keen to maximize the little left.
After a disastrous loan spell at Palace last season, a fresh start at a club like Palmas where there is less pressure is just what Remy needs.
During his time at the club, Remy won a Premier League title and his goals were crucial to the triumph. He made a total of 29 appearances for Chelsea, netting 12 goals for the club.
