Chelsea are now said to be ready to tie Brazilian star David Luiz down with a new contract after impressing this season for the Stamford Bridge club.
The current contract of the 31-year-old ex PSG star will expire next summer, and Chelsea wants him to commit his future to the club by signing a new deal.
According to the report by Metro, David Luiz is expected to get at least two more years at Stamford Bridge with a fresh £125,000-a-week, but that’s very unlikely. The policy at Chelsea is to not offer more than one year to players over 30, and even David Luiz doesn’t get to be an exception there.
Last season, David Luiz had a rift with former Chelsea coach Antonio Conte in which he did not play from February till the end of the term. But this term, he has established himself in Maurizio Sarri’s first team appearing all the Blues’ five games played this season.
