Chelsea news | Following the international break the Blues will have arguably their easiest run of fixtures this season, and will need to take advantage after a difficult start

It’s been a mixed start to the Premier League season for Chelsea, with the 4-0 loss against Manchester United on the opening weekend leading into a run of just one win from the opening four games.

Frank Lampard’s side have grown into the league campaign, but have been pegged back to a draw at home twice, with the win away to Norwich their only victory so far.

There are two difficult fixtures immediately on the horizon against Wolves and Liverpool, with a Champions League game against Valencia sandwiched between the pair.

So picking up points in the following matches could be key to their battle to secure a top four place this season, with a key run of fixtures coming up.

The Fantasy Premier League Fixture Difficulty Ranking, or FDR, suggests that Chelsea’s easiest run of the season is coming up soon.

The FDR uses a set of formulas that process key Opta data variables, along with each team’s home and away form for the past six meetings, to generate a rank for the perceived difficulty of each Gameweek opponent.

The FDR key is based from one to five, with one being the easiest and five being the hardest. Unsurprisingly, Chelsea’s most difficult fixtures, rated five out of five for difficulty, are expected to be Manchester City (away) and Liverpool (away).

Their next most difficult matches, scored four out of five, should be Manchester United (away), Liverpool (home), Everton (away), Tottenham Hotspur (away), Arsenal (away), Arsenal (home), Manchester United (Home), Tottenham Hotspur (home) and Manchester City (home).

From gameweek six, Chelsea have a great run of fixtures where they can take an advantage over top four rivals Manchester United and Arsenal, who both face slightly more troubling schedules, including a match against each other at Old Trafford.
