Chelsea are set to rival Arsenal and Liverpool to the signing AS Monaco ace Thomas Lemar next month.

Arsenal came very close to signing him after agreeing fees with AS Monaco on deadline day of the summer transfer window, but the failure to complete Alexis Sanchez to Man City deal meant Arsenal had to pull out of a deal for Lemar.

Liverpool had two bids rejected by Monaco during the summer and are still interested in the French international as a replacement for Philippe Coutinho if the Brazilian joins Barcelona.

However, Conte recently has been using Eden Hazard in the false nine position whenever Alvaro Morata is not available, and is said to admire Lemar’s ability to play across the frontline.

The Blues are reportedly prepared to send Batshuayi the other way on loan to persuade them to do a deal for their priced asset.

Batshuayi seems to have lost the faith of his boss, with Conte preferring to play Hazard as a false nine and keeping Batshuayi on the bench against Huddersfield, and a loan move in January ahead of the world cup would suit him well.

According to The Express Conte is looking to implement the false nine more often and completing a deal for Thomas Lemar will give him very quality options in that position.
