Arsenal and Chelsea are preparing to make a move to sign Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira, according to reports.
The 22-year-old is struggling for playing time under Jose Mourinho and has made only five appearances for United this season.
The Brazilian international is out-of-contract in the summer, although Manchester United do have a one-year option, and it is understood they are ready to cash in.
The Belgian-born player has impressed in flashes for Jose Mourinho, who has helped transform him into a holding midfielder, but has only ever started twice in the Premier League for the Reds since joining from Holland’s PSV Eindhoven in 2014 when Louis van Gaal was the manager.
Pereira does have interest from abroad — France’s Monaco, Italian heavyweights Inter Milan of Italy and Spanish side Valencia, who had him on a year’s loan last season, are all keen on the 22-year-old.
The report claims that both Chelsea and Arsenal are keen on the midfielder, who could be available for as little as £10 million, plus add-ons.
Pereira’s more cultured skills would likely find a home at either Arsenal or Chelsea. The Gunners still play a stylish and progressive game even after Unai Emery succeeded Arsene Wenger in the summer.
Of the two squads, Arsenal may have more obvious room for Pereira. He could operate as one of two holding midfielders in the double pivot Emery has chosen to underpin his team with.
