An exclusive report from the Daily Express, Chelsea are reportedly eying a move for unsettled Arsenal star Aaron Ramsey should the Welshman fail to put pen to paper over a new contract with the North London club.
The Blues are the latest club to step up their interest in Ramsey after contract talks between the midfielder and Arsenal stalled.
Ramsey’s existing contract expires at the end of the season meaning he will be available for nothing during the summer transfer window.
But Arsenal will consider offers for him in January as they look to avoid the prospect of losing the 27-year-old on a free transfer.
The Wales international Ramsey has developed into a key player for the Gunners since signing from Cardiff City in 2008 and Emery is desperate for him to stay.
The 27-year-old is out of contract in June and talks over a new deal have broken down, with Gunners chiefs withdrawing an offer of around £200,000 a week.
It has been reported that Arsenal’s continued lack of Champions League football has meant they are unable to afford the outlay on his contract, despite giving Mesut Ozil a £350,000-a-week deal last season.
It is understood Arsenal are set to ask for around £25m for the last six months of Ramsey’s contract and won’t have a problem in finding a buyer, with Manchester United, AC Milan and Inter Milan also thought to be interested.
They add that Chelsea could make some room for Ramsey by offloading Cesc Fabregas to AC Milan and the Spanish midfielder could therefore possibly be offered as a makeweight in any deal.
