Chelsea will look to sign Ivory Coast midfielder Franck Kessie in exchange for £40million flop Tiemoue Bakayoko, according to reports.
France international Bakayoko only arrived at Stamford Bridge in 2017 from Monaco but is already being linked with a departure from the west London club.
The 24-year-old failed to convince former manager Antonio Conte of his abilities before being sent on a season-long loan last summer.
After a slow start in Milan, Bakayoko is beginning to show his ability and has admitted he would be interested in making his loan move permanent at the end of the season.
Chelsea are open to the idea but, according to the Daily Star, they will try to sign Ivorian star Kessie as part of the deal.
Kessie is currently on a two-year loan deal from fellow Serie A outfit Atlanta and Milan are obliged to secure his signature on a permanent transfer this summer.
But it is claimed Chelsea will request that he is immediately resold to them if Milan opt to strike a deal for Bakayoko.
Kessie, who has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in the past, would bolster Maurizio Sarri’s midfield options.
Sarri was left disappointed by Chelsea’s activity during the January transfer window, especially as the club failed to sign a replacement for Cesc Fabregas.
After 26 games of the 2018-19 campaign, the Blues find themselves sixth in the Premier League after a devastating 6-0 defeat to Manchester City in the weekend.
