Arsenal manager, Unai Emery, has confirmed that the club is actively looking to bolster their squad in the January transfer window.
The Daily Star claims a staff believes Gary Cahill could be heading to Arsenal despite strong interest from Fulham.
Emery is believed to be keen to bring in a new centre-back, especially after Rob Holding’s season was ended prematurely.
Cahill will be granted a loan for the final months of his Chelsea contract if a permanent deal cannot be thrashed out.
After winning the Champions League and two Premier League titles during his glittering career at Stamford Bridge the club will allow him to leave for the regular football he wants.
Cahill was willing to stay if he was picked for enough games in the first half of the season – but he has been limited to one Premier League sub appearance.
Arsenal boss Unai Emery has denied an interest in Cahill.
“We didn’t speak about him,” he said.
But Emery did confirm that the club was in talks about potential signings.
He added: “It depends if the transfer market can help you – only if there are players who can help us in different positions. The club is looking to see.”
Arsenal are likely to look to the loan market to strengthen Emery’s squad for the rest of the season.
