According to reports in Spain, Chelsea will lock horn with Arsenal for Barcelona star Denis Suarez this month.
As per claims made by Sport, as cited on Sport Witness, the London duo are open to ‘closing the transfer’, with the player seeking a move away from the Nou Camp.
Suarez, 24, has been heavily linked with a move away from the Nou Camp in the mid-season sales.
He has been limited to six appearances in all competitions and could seek an exit.
According to BBC Sport reporter David Ornstein – a reliable source of Arsenal transfer news – Suarez is being considered by Emirates Stadium chiefs.
Any move for the Barcelona is likely to be on loan, however.
Ornstein claims Arsenal boss Unai Emery only has a ‘modest budget’ to work with in January.
As a result, the club are more likely to turn to the loan market than look at permanent additions.
Maurizio Sarri is a known admirer of Suarez and tried to sign the player during the summer transfer window, but he wanted to fight for his place at the Nou Camp.
The Spaniard is also a player that the Italian head coach tried to sign during his days at Napoli, so he clearly sees something he likes within the midfielder.
Milan are also in the running to sign Suarez but are only offering a loan with an option to buy, which could give both Chelsea and Arsenal an advantage.
