Chelsea are said to have taken ‘the first steps’ towards a deal to sign Suso from Milan.

According to reports in Italy, as cited on Sport Witness, the Blues have started working on a potential deal.

Suso has managed to rack up seven assists, better than any other player in the top five European leagues.

Since joining AC Milan in 2015, the Spanish playmaker has become one of the hottest properties in the Italian top flight, catching the eye of one Maurizio Sarri in the meanwhile.

According to the Daily Star, Sarri is now giving serious consideration to triggering the £36.5 million release clause in Suso’s contract in a bid to purloin a player he deems a “perfect” fit for the system he’s implemented at Stamford Bridge.

Liverpool have previously been linked with a move to re-sign the player, while the report claims that there is also interest from Athletic Bilbao.

The former Liverpool man was heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge during the summer transfer window, with Maurizio Sarri said to be a huge admirer of the player.

Milan are not willing to let go of their star for ‘just’ the release clause, and thus the plan is to scrap it completely. In the coming weeks, there will be a meeting between Suso’s agent and the Milan management.
