Chelsea XI vs Southampton: Sarri to make THREE key changes in Strongest lineup

Footballbible on Facebook and Twitter get up to date football-related news from the English Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga and other leagues around the World. News From Chelsea, Everton, Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool.

Olivier Giroud (ankle) is a major doubt for the visit of Southampton after leaving Selhurst Park on crutches on Sunday, though news is awaited on his prognosis.

Maurizio Sarri also revealed that Ruben Loftus-Cheek (back), Cesc Fabregas (neck) and Danny Drinkwater (unknown) had picked up injuries ahead of that win over Palace, with that trio set to be assessed ahead of Gameweek 21.

Callum Hudson-Odoi (hamstring) could also return to contention, though Pedro (hamstring) remains out.

Despite all of the positive comments from Maurizio Sarri on Eden Hazard’s performances as a central striker recently, the Belgium international may be again deployed on the left wing for this encounter with wide options thin on the ground.

Alvaro Morata may therefore get the nod to lead the line if the likes of Loftus-Cheek or Hudson-Odoi are not fit enough to take up the right-wing spot.

Mateo Kovacic could displace Ross Barkley from central midfield, meanwhile, after the Croatian’s benching in south London.
